After a month off from racing on the East Coast, the East Coast Beta Team resumed racing in Cross Fork, PA for Round 7 of the National Enduro Series. Mild weather greeted racers for what seemed like the first dry event of the year. Jesse Groemm, Justin Sode, and Cory Buttrick all lined up Sunday morning for a total of six tests on PA's best technical terrain.
After a slow start in the first section, Jesse Groemm led the team on his Beta 300 RR taking 3rd overall on the day; moving from 6th to the final podium spot in the final test. Groemm comments, "I'm excited to finally have a good result and put my Beta on the podium! This year has been tough trying to rebound from a concussion I had back in February. I'm really happy to get past that and be back on the box. A huge thanks to Beta USA, Zack Huberty, Mike Medeiros, and all of our great sponsors." Groemm landed Beta USA it's first National Enduro podium.
Piloting his 430 RR, Cory Buttrick finished 8th for the day. "I got off to a good start the first two tests," said Buttrick. "Unfortunately results didn't show it. Looking at the times show just how close we all were with the short sections, one mistake could really slide you back a few spots. I had crashes in test 3 and 5 that set me back a bit. I was running in 6th and got a burnt clutch in the last test which resulted in a 8th overall. Not happy with my results but I'm still going to keep digging on my Beta 430 RR. "
Next, the team will head to Michigan for the next round of the National Enduro series on August 23rd.
Steward Baylor Wins Rattlesnake Enduro
Cross Fork, PA – KTM support rider Steward Baylor took the win at the seventh round of the Kenda AMA National Enduro Series by 51 seconds over the next closest competitor.
Baylor, a former National Enduro Champion, started the day off with a mediocre test score but quickly changed the tune for the next five sections. His 9th place finish on test one would be his worst placement of the day as he returned to win the next two tests after that. He collected two more 2nd place test scores and one more win on his way to claiming the overall victory.
FMF KTM Factory riders Russell Bobbitt and Kailub Russell both had difficult race days. Bobbitt did secure a test win in the first section, which was primarily a grass track section, but struggled to make it in the top three after that. Russell also had issues staying at the top of the leaderboard and ended his day with a 6th place result.
Cross Fork, PA (July 26, 2015) – After starting off with the ninth fastest time in the opening test of the day, Steward Baylor came on strong for the remainder of the event at the Rattlesnake Enduro, round seven of the Kenda AMA National Enduro Series, presented by Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, to claim his second win of the season, beating his brother, Grant, by just under a minute.
Since winning the opening round of the series in South Carolina, Steward has encountered a multitude of problems, including a badly broken collarbone two days before the second round of the schedule. However, with his win today, and the fact that current points leader Kailub Russell finished a disappointing sixth, tightened up the points chase considerably.
In test one, FMF/KTM’s Russell Bobbitt turned the quickest time, beating series points leader and teammate Kailub Russell by 11 seconds, with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Andrew DeLong in third another four seconds back.
However, Baylor took control of the race in test two and won four of the next five tests, giving the MotoTech KTM rider the overall win.
