NEPG Round 1 Race Report
Round 1 of the NEPG are in the books. We are very pleased with how the whole race team came together in such a short amount of time in the off season. Our rider Jake Froman only had two weeks on his new 2017 GasGas 250 to get ready for round 1. He showed good speed and determination to be a top 10 rider in 2017. He finished 23rd in his pro debut, we have a few things to get dialed in before round 2 in Daytona Beach. Know that the entire team is working hard to break into the top 10. Special thanks to Mark Berg at GasGas North America for believing in Ol’ Red Racing Products and Jake and backing us in 2017. We would also like to thank all of our valued sponsors: HBD MotoGrax, Fly Racing, SpecBolt, IMS, SuperSprox, Mitas Tires, Enduro Engineering, Scott USA, Gaerne Boots, Rekluse, EBC Brakes, FMF, Motion Pro, and TF Racing Suspension. Here is what Jake had to say about his race.
Round one of the National Enduro series in Sumter, South Carolina was a tough one. I felt as if I was coming into the race a little underprepared due to a lack of seat time in the sandy conditions. However, I did have confidence in myself and my equipment. I got off to a rather rough start not being able to get comfortable in the first test, so I just tried to make it through without making any mistakes. I had decided going into section two that I needed to pick up the pace or I would be trying to dig self out of a hole for the rest of the day. I was still unable to find a groove, which resulted in two hard crashes. Luckily, I was able to regroup and have three solid sections, but still off from where I felt that I should have been. More problems in the final test left me with a 26th overall on the day. I was able to leave round one healthy, and I now know what I need to work on to be ready to go for round two in Florida.
Thanks to all of my sponsors: HBD MotoGrax, Fly Racing, SpecBolt, IMS, SuperSprox, Mitas Tires, Enduro Engineering, Scott USA, Gaerne Boots, Rekluse, EBC Brakes, FMF, Motion Pro, and TF Racing Suspension
