KR4/Husqvarna Team Report: Sumter National Enduro

WEDGEFIELD, S.C. (February 5, 2018) – The opening round for the Kenda AMA National Enduro series took place this past Sunday in Wedgefield, South Carolina. Even though the weather was unfavorable with rainy conditions, the KR4/Husqvarna team had an excellent showing at the Sumter National Enduro.

Cory Buttrick made his debut with the KR4/Husqvarna team and had some impressive test results, where he finished second in Test 4 and ended the day with a third-place finish in Test 6. “I’m pleased with my results at this track,” explained Buttrick. “I am ready for the next one and we know what we have to do to get the Husqvarna on the box next weekend at the FGSE!”

After flying to the U.S. last week, Liam Draper completed in his first race on American soil. Despite being placed in Line 119, the New Zealand native excelled in the wet sand and finished 12th in the Pro 2 class, and 36th overall.

Reigning Womens Elite champ, Tayla Jones, had her hands full with some stiff competition yesterday and ended up finishing as the runner-up. “I am happy to be back racing and to start another year,” said Jones. “I struggled a bit on the weekend with the track and a few too many mistakes, but a second-place finish isn't anything to complain about. I've got some things to work on and I know what I need to do to be better at the next round.”

Conner Keegan had his best finish of his career where he finished second overall – narrowly missing first by 25 seconds in the highly competitive 250 A class. “On the first test I battled bad arm pump, but overtime I started to get comfortable on the bike and make up time,” said Conner. “My Kenda Southwick tires worked awesome in the sandy conditions!”

Colin Keegan suffered from a transponder issue, but was running in the top 10 before it stopped working. Colin was awarded with 19th in AA. Michael McLean also had some struggles, and ended up placing 25th in Open A.
