Round 8 - AMA National Enduro Series - September 9, 2018

MARQUETTE, Mich. – KTM-mounted riders swept the top four overall positions on Sunday for Round 8 of the AMA National Enduro Series in Marquette, Michigan. Tely Energy KTM’s Steward Baylor Jr. captured his third win of the season in a battle to the end, besting his teammate Grant Baylor in second. FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Josh Toth rounded out the overall podium in third, while Trail Jesters/KTM Racing’s Ben Kelley finished just off the podium in fourth.

With ideal track conditions taking place in Marquette, Michigan, Toth went to work in battling for his second victory of the season. He maintained a solid pace throughout the entire race, finishing inside the top four in all but one of the day’s sections. Following a fourth-place finish in test one, Toth and his FMF KTM Factory Racing crew made a slight adjustment to the KTM 250 XC-F for test two and it proved to be a good one as he went on to capture second-place in the third test. He experienced some issues in test four when he came into contact with a tree branch but he fought through to finish 4-4-3 in the final three tests. With a consistent run all day, Toth was able to secure his second-straight podium finish with third.

Toth: “It wasn’t my best day today, I struggled earlier in the day but I turned it around and improved throughout the day to make my way into third. I didn’t have much for the Baylor brothers today and neither did anyone else. I’m happy to be on the podium again and healthy going into next weekend’s GNCC.”

The Baylor brothers were a force to be reckoned with on Sunday as they captured every available test-win between the two Tely Energy Racing KTMs. Steward set the pace right away, taking the opening victory, but Grant answered back with three-consecutive wins in tests two, three and four. Steward finished strong with victories in the final two tests as he successfully navigated his way through a challenging test six at the end of the day. Despite a hard fight by Grant, it was Steward who prevailed in the end to earn his third victory of the season.
