BAYLOR BROTHERS CLAIM TOP TWO SPOTS AT CHEROKEE NATIONAL ENDURO

June 9, 2019

GREENSBORO, Ga. – Round 4 of the 2019 AMA National Enduro Series took place in Greensboro, Georgia on Sunday for yet another “mudder” on the east coast. The Tely Energy Racing/KTM duo of Steward and Grant Baylor felt right at home as they aced nearly all of the day’s test-wins between the two of them to claim first and second overall, respectively, on the day.

The grounds of the Cherokee Enduro saw a good amount of rainfall leading up to the start of the race and it didn’t let up throughout the day, presenting riders with slick conditions and forcing added strategy in the woods. Overall points leader, Steward Baylor Jr., wasn’t fazed by the rain as he only became stronger with the worsening conditions. Steward did get off to a slow start, finishing 30 seconds behind his brother in the opening test. He immediately upped the pace with a win in test two, where he went on to pilot his KTM 450 XC-F to three additional test-wins and one more runner-up finish to ultimately best Grant by over one-minute in the overall running.

Steward Baylor: “After the first test, things started clicking for me. The track got a little more physically demanding and really technical as the rain kept coming down and I think that the nastier the conditions got, the better I was riding throughout the day. I made a few changes as far goggle and line selection and things started to pay off. Luckily, the last test I came around and saw that Grant was off in the bushes and I knew from there I had it in the bag and we just rode it in. It was a great day for points and I’m looking forward to the next one.”

Coming off his first victory at the last round, Grant carried that momentum into the day as he claimed the first test-win aboard his KTM 450 XC-F. He filed in behind Steward in test two with second-place and he continued to put in solid top-four rides until the final test of the day when he went off-track and finished 10th.
