Brad Bakken Injury Up-Date

Brad Bakken- Update

Hey everyone, I would like to give you a little update on what I have been doing and how my recovery has been coming along.  My wrist is healing up the way it should; it is just taking some time. In about two weeks I will go to get x-rays to see when they can take the pins out and start physical therapy.  I am excited about that.

I have been working in a machine shop helping deliver and pick-up parts. It has been nice to be able to keep busy and to be able to earn some money while I am hurt.  I have also been doing a couple riding schools here and there. Working at these schools has been helping me stay focused because I have to really think about how I do things on the bike. I have been working out at the gym doing a lot of cardio since I haven’t been riding.  I have been doing core and leg strengthening and I feel stronger in those areas then I did before my accident.

I am also hanging out with my family and girl friend a lot; it has been nice because I am usually on the road so much while I am racing. Since my injury, my dad has more time, so, he has gotten back on the bike and plans on racing all of the remaining Virginia Championship Hare Scramble Series (VCHSS) races.  It has been fun to help him and be part of his pit crew.  Hopefully, I will be able to get to a couple of the remaining Nationals.

I would like to wish everyone on the United States ISDE team good luck!

I wish I was over there with you guys! I would like to thank all of my sponsors for their continued support and their encouragement on getting through this injury/recovery and coming back stronger than ever.  I also thank everyone else out there for supporting me and I can’t wait to get back on a bike!
