Eaton Rapids, MI (July 21, 2014) – AirGroup Racing’s Nick Fahringer will be looking to add to his newly acquired points lead in the 2014 Kenda AMA National Enduro Series, presented by Moose Racing as the series heads into Cross Fork, Pennsylvania this weekend for the Rattlesnake National Enduro – round seven of the National Enduro Promotions Group’s 10-round series.
Among Fahringer’s chief challengers this weekend will be Factory Husqvarna Racing’s Andrew DeLong, who won the previous round in Michigan, and N-Fab/Am Pro Yamaha’s Brad Bakken, who was victorious at round five of the series in Virginia.
This will be a home race for DeLong, and he’ll be looking for every advantage he can get to come away with his second win of the year. It will also be a home race for two other series standouts: Husqvarna support rider Craig DeLong, and KR4 Arrive-n-Ride’s Shane Hufford. Craig Delong is Andrew DeLong’s younger brother and he’s currently leading the Rekluse Expert-AA class point standings.
Other notables lining up to do battle at the Rattlesnake National Enduro are former Suzuki motocross star, Broc Hepler, and eight-time national enduro champ Mike Lafferty, who has announced his retirement for the end of this year. Interestingly, Hepler will be riding on Row 26, the same row as Lafferty.
Proving how popular the Rattlesnake Enduro is – as well as how popular the series has become – entries have been closed for several weeks for this weekend’s race due to the fact that the entries reached the 500-rider limit. A waiting list will be available at the event for those wanting to ride but did not get an entry in.
The Rattlesnake Enduro is famous for its long and winding grass track, which is part of test one. There will also be two new tests that have not been used in years. It should be noted that each test will get a little rockier as the day progresses.
In addition to the race, there will be KTM and Sherco demos from 10-4 pm on Saturday afternoon. Then on Saturday night there will be Fireworks display for all to enjoy. Breakfast & lunch are available both Saturday and Sunday.
In the Rekluse Expert-AA Class, Craig DeLong padded his lead in the series standings by claiming his fourth-straight win of the series at the Loose Moose in June, and the Husqvarna support rider now sits 17 points ahead of Drew Higgins, with Caleb Haynes another 31 points behind.
The Rekluse Expert-AA Class Champion is determined by a rider’s best 8 of 10 rounds, and heading into this weekend the end of year purse is up to $2000. Be sure to check out the Rekluse website for exact details.
Camping is available at the Rattlesnake with a few hookups and cabins if you reserve early. In addition, the town of Lock Haven is about a 30 to 40 minute drive away.
