(34A) Hunter Williams

BIKE: KTM 300 XC
BORN: 9/5/93 AGE: 18
HOMETOWN: Rocky Face, GA

WHO TAUGHT YOU TO RIDE:
My dad taught me - on a TTR90.

HOW OLD WERE YOU:
6

FIRST BIKE:
Yamaha TTR90

FIRST COMPETITION:
2006 SETRA Cracker HS in Wrens, GA

RESULTS:
Raced in Heavy Trail on a CRF230, did 2 laps and got major stuck, then dug it out by hand and finished. I have no idea where I placed.

WHO INFLUENCED COMPETITION:
I rode for fun around our farm and public trails. I heard about hare scrambles and wanted to try one because it sounded  fun. Dad took me to a couple and we were hooked.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF RACING YOU’VE TRIED:
I started in hare scrambles and still like them. As I raced more and got old enough I started running some enduros and really liked the singletrack racing so I have focused on that mostly with a few hare scrambles and team races. I have also raced some MXGP and always have enjoyed it and finished pretty well.

DID YOU HAVE AN EARLY ROLE MODEL:
I always admired  the talent of  Shane Watts and David Knight when I started, and still do. There are so many others that I have looked up to since.

SOMEONE YOU ADMIRE NOW -- ANY SPORT:
Definitely Georgia’s own 4-time National Champ Russell Bobbitt. He’s a good friend, a mentor, all-around great guy, and a dedicated athlete. And on the side, he is an almost-Pro stand-up jet ski racer.

HIGHLIGHTS OF RACING CAREER UP TO 2012:
The most recent and significant would be the 2011 National Enduro Open A Championship.

FAVORITE COURSE AND WHY:
I like a good variety of stuff, from the Velcro dirt of Michigan, to the awesome course in Indiana, to the different soil mixes in Maplesville and Tennessee. I guess my favorite soil and course combo would be the Sandlapper in South Carolina.

RACING GOALS?
My current goals are to have a good rookie  Pro season in the National Enduros and crack the Top 10. That is ambitious because the popularity of the Nationals is attracting top off-road talent from other series too, and seems to grow every year. I want to pursue good finishes in some GNCC’s and expand my skills and experience into other off-road racing opportunities.

LIST SPONSORS IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE:
A big shout out to Paul Wright and all the shop support from  KTMWorld and Highland Park Riding Resort in Cedartown, GA.  Also Klim, Enduro Engineering, Powersport Grafx, FMF, and Scott. And of course Mom and Dad.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS. INCLUDE EDUCATIONAL GOALS, AND ANYTHING ELSE IMPORTANT TO YOU:
I will be graduating high school this year and hope to pursue my Pro career and Dalton State College in 2012.
