To continue to have land available to race on, the use of goggle tear offs will no longer be allowed at the AMA National Enduro Series

Goggle tear offs being disposed of during a race and thrown on the ground is essentially littering on land that we have the privilege to race our motorcycle on. Land owners have been finding littered tear offs on their property years later that need to be properly disposed of. These Tear Offs are endangering livestock as they are eaten and can get caught in their digestive system. The National Enduro Series events rely on the use of private property, State and National Forests, and State Parks where there is zero tolerance with littering. Unfortunately, the use of Goggle tear offs is getting worse and is jeopardizing the opportunity for future use of these properties.

Starting with the 2024 season, the use of goggle tear offs is no longer permitted for AMA National Enduro competition, NEPG Youth Challenge or NEPG manufacture demo rides. The NEPG will adopt the FIM rule for European Enduros and ISDE that has been in effect for several years.

FIM Rule:
01.65 EQUIPMENT AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING DURING PRACTICE AND RACE

65.04 Eye protection

Riders shall wear goggles. The use of glasses, helmet visors and "roll offs" is also permitted. The use of "tear offs" is forbidden for environmental reasons (valid also for final Motocross test on ISDE). The material used for glasses, goggles and visors must be made of shatter-proof material. Helmet visors must not be an integral part of the helmet.

Starting with the 2024 Sumter National Enduro on Feb 10-11 2024 in South Carolina, goggle tear offs will no longer be permitted for the national enduro, youth challenge or manufacture demo rides. This rule has been added to the 2024 AMA National Enduro Series supplemental rules.

here will be trash cans available at each start control, if you have tear offs on, you will be asked to dispose them in the trash, along with any water bottles or trash that you may have to dispose of.

We would also like to ask that all racers and spectators please clean up after themselves on the course, and in the paddock areas. Please dispose of all trash properly or take it with you when you leave. Please do not leave trash at campsites, this includes tires. Most events have a dumpster available. Please use them as you leave.

There will be a three-tier system for offences of the new goggle tear off rule. The following actions will occur for riders that do not comply with the rule.

  1. First offense will result in a written warning.

  2. Second offense will result in a 5-minute penalty.

  3. Third offense will result in a disqualification from the event.

The offenses do not reset, each offense tier carries over from event to event, and from season to season.
